Pests Types

Insects

Black widow
Being bitten by a black widow is a painful and dangerous experience. This is because the spider produces venom that can affect your nervous system. So if you see black widow spiders on your property, it is important to have the area checked right away

Sun spiders
Also known as the camel spider, solifuges, and wind scorpions. Sunspiders prefer warm habitats, including warm deserts and scrublands in all continents except Australia and Antarctica. Sunspiders feed most on termites, beetles, and other small ground-dwelling insects. Sunspiders have been recorded feeding on snakes, rodents, and small lizards. They do not normally attack humans, but can penetrate human skin, and produce painful bites.

Desert Recluse
The desert recluse is usually misidentified as the brown recluse of the Midwestern and southern states. The desert recluse can be found in the Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. When receiving a bite from a Desert recluse lesions of the skin will occur which is caused from the venom of the bite. This occurs through the same mechanism that is responsible for the effects of a brown recluse bite. The desert recluse is common in the Coachella Valley area and having professional pest control on a regular basis will prevent these pests from entering your home or business.)

Scorpions
There are about 25 species of scorpions with venom that can kill a human being. These creatures live in deserts but can enter buildings through torn windows, door screens, vents, and other openings in the walls. All scorpions can deliver a sharp and unpleasant sting that can penetrate human skin.

Fire Ants
Fire ant colony’s produce mounds in areas where an abundant source of water is available. Fire ants will attack small animals and sometimes will kill them. Fire ants will first bite their victim just to get a grip so they can then sting and inject a toxic venom called Solenopsin. Fire ant stings are very painful, a sensation which can be similar to a burn from fire and the after effects of the sting can be fatal to people who are sensitive. Fire ants are very difficult to eradicate and will take the help of a Licensed Pest Control Professional.

House Crickets
These insects live in and around structures and can quickly become an infestation if allowed to breed. This insect is the primary food source for scorpions, black widows, and other dangerous creatures.

Cockroaches
Easily a business’s worst nightmare, cockroaches breed quickly and can transmit diseases like salmonella, yellow fever virus, and other health risks. If your business has a cockroach infestation, treating these insects in the early stages of their life cycle is critical.

Ticks
These creatures feed on the blood of amphibians, reptiles, birds, or mammals. They can spread a variety of illnesses like Q-Fever, Lyme disease, African tick bite fever, and more. If you see them in your home, seek the help of a professional exterminator to get the infestation under control.

Mosquitos

There are about 3,500 species for mosquitoes in world. Mosquitoes are vectors of many different types of diseases with include yellow fever, malaria, West Nile virus, dengue fever, zika, and many others. Mosquitoes cause more than 700,000 deaths per year which is more than any other animal taxon. We have a high number of mosquitoes in the Coachella Valley due to all the watering we have on a regular basis to keep our vegetation green since we are in the dry desert. The golf courses, golf course lakes, the agricultural we have in the Coachella Vally are a big part of why the mosquitoes can continue to survive in high numbers in the Coachella Valley.

Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are a common pest found in businesses. They are parasitic insects that feed on blood. While these insects are not exclusively nocturnal, they are active at night and can live up to a year without feeding. They can even feed on their hosts without being noticed. Issues such as skin rashes, allergy symptoms, or psychological effects can occur because of their bites.

Rodents

Different types of rodents can cause a wide array of problems to your property. Rats and mice can chew through electric wires. Meanwhile, gophers, moles, and squirrels can ruin your lawn or plants.

Rats
These vermin colonize beneath concrete, in attics, burrows, and other secluded areas. Rats can transmit different diseases and can carry parasites such as fleas, ticks, and lice.

Mice
Small in size, mice are found in and around homes, commercial structures, and open fields. They can carry various illnesses and multiply quickly; a pair of mice can produce 200 offspring in four months.

Gophers
Gophers are known as creators of underground tunnels, which can remain for many years. Even after these rodents are eliminated, new ones could adopt the tunnels and reproduce under your lawn, feeding on the roots of your plants.

Squirrels
Underground burrows, attics, or garages could be a perfect hiding place for squirrels. They are noisy and chew holes through the exterior of the structure, looking for food or a place to nest.

Moles
Like gophers, moles can create underground tunnels and can ruin your landscaping. They primarily feed on ants, beetle grubs, or earthworms but can also eat vegetable matter and seeds.
